DriveCam to Present at MWMA Fall Summit

October 14, 2013 – San Diego, Calif. – DriveCam, Inc., a global driver risk management company, will be a featured presenter at the Municipal Waste Management Association (MWMA) Fall Summit October 14-16, 2013 in Tampa, FL. The annual Fall Summit brings together solid waste, environmental and sustainability officials from across the country, including public sector leaders and private sector executives, to discuss trends, emerging technologies and best practices in zero waste, fleet management, tracking and route mapping technologies, and other issues.

DriveCam’s state and local government fleet expert Rush Akin will be a panel participant along with three other selected speakers to present a session titled, “Fleet Management – Cutting Costs While Improving Productivity.”  The session will explore fleet management technologies and strategies being employed in the public and private sectors, which provide maximum return on investment by enhancing environmental sustainability, achieving significant cost savings and in some cases even generating revenue for fleets and departments. Akin specifically will speak about improving fuel efficiencies and safety through driver coaching.

Rush Akin is the enterprise sales director for state and local government fleets at DriveCam. Prior to joining DriveCam, he was the national accounts sales manager at Fuel Master, product manager of residential and commercial operators for Wayne-Dalton Corp. and engineering program manager with Syn-Tech Systems. He earned his A.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University.

DriveCam improves safety by combining data and video analytics with real-time driver feedback and coaching, resulting in reductions in collision-related costs and fuel consumption. Using its patented Driver Science Engine®, the DriveCam solution scores, prioritizes and tracks the results of driving behaviors to identify behavioral improvement opportunities for increased safety.  In-cab video captures driving behavior, which is objectively reviewed and scored, then passed on to the fleet for use in coaching drivers.

Fleets manage the DriveCam Program through DriveCam Online®, a web-based online portal. When seamlessly integrated with DriveCam’s video event recorder and the DriveCam Online reporting solution, DriveCam’s Fuel Management Solution combines real-time, in-cab feedback with online reporting and coaching to improve fuel efficiency – by up to 12 percent – and lower emissions. Unlike other vehicle-centric fuel solutions, DriveCam’s solution focuses on the driver – specifically on the three driving behaviors that have the greatest impact on fuel efficiency: efficient or “smooth” driving, idling and speeding.
