LONDON (27 June 2016) – Breezemount, a nationwide two-man delivery company that transports and delivers goods for one of the UK’s top furniture retailers, says its brand ambassadors spend their day behind the wheel, not behind a desk. Sprung from humble beginnings with just four trucks in in the mid-1990s, Breezemount now operates in 23 service areas around the UK and Ireland. More than 120 of its trucks are using the Lytx DriveCam safety programme to optimise productivity, improve safe driving, and protect their drivers from false claims.

The Lytx DriveCam safety programme is a comprehensive solution that combines video capture of road incidents such as hard braking or sudden swerving, data analysis of those incidents, and personalised coaching insights to improve driving behaviour to help prevent those incidents. The net result is reductions of collision-related costs by up to 80 percent.

Driver Safety Includes Protecting Drivers and Helping Them Improve

“We looked at other providers who could do video or fleet tracking or help with driver behaviour, but only Lytx® combined all three,” said Breezemount Head of Fleet Graham Brooks.

“Developing and upskilling our drivers is our top priority because they’re our face to our clients and to the public,” said Brooks. “We use the Lytx system as a coaching tool to help predict – and more importantly, prevent -- the types of accidents mostly likely to involve our drivers.

 “The stop-start, multi-drop nature of our business can take a driver’s focus off of safety, and with the Lytx DriveCam programme, we can identify where coaching is necessary,” he added.

Brooks also echoed a common concern about the industry’s driver shortage and said that the Lytx DriveCam programme has been highly effective at helping Breezemount to reward and retain drivers.  Since installing Lytx DriveCam event recorders in its trucks and implementing the DriveCam coaching insights, he said improvement has been rapid and substantial.

“Within the first few weeks, we saw a 22 percent reduction in coachable events and a nearly 18 percent overall reduction in risk,” said Brooks. “We were able to pinpoint early on common driving events, and direct our coaching efforts on prevention.”

Lytx Helps Boost Fleet Productivity, Manage First Notification of Loss

Lytx delivers to Brooks and his team the data necessary to effectively manage productivity and route efficiency as well as safety.

“Knowing the location of trucks and tracking accident hotspots are important to us, too, as is managing fuel consumption, and Lytx helps us accomplish those business objectives,” said Brooks.

Breezemount has also given its insurance provider access to the Lytx online dashboard to give them full transparency into coaching status, driving event event videos, and other data to help with first notification of loss (FNOL), allowing them to take a proactive approach on managing claims and corresponding costs.
