DriveCam to Present at Fleetcon


September 10, 2013 – San Diego, Calif. – DriveCam, Inc., a global driver risk management company, will present at Fleetcon September 10-13, 2013 in Reno, NV.  Themed “Fleet Management Today and What to Expect Tomorrow,” the educational conference features DriveCam’s state and local government fleet expert Rush Akin among selected speakers. Akin will present “Using Technology to Improve Fleet Safety” to share how video-based behavior data can help fleets to improve driving behavior and mitigate risk.

As advancements in technology have led to an explosion in solutions to monitor and evaluate driver behavior, more and more government fleets are turning to new technology to solve today (and tomorrow’s) safety problems. Many of these solutions have the potential to make employees safer, as well as reduce vehicle collisions, fuel and maintenance costs, and claims costs for the employer. Yet, despite the many benefits these technologies bring, unions, city councils and municipal governments can be resistant to change, making it difficult to successfully implement them.

In Akin’s session, fleet professionals will learn how to use a driver risk management program to improve their fleets’ safety, as well as how other fleets have overcome challenges to successfully deploy a video-based driver risk management program. They will also learn best practices for effectively communicating the benefits of a program across all parties – including how government fleets across the country are using driver risk management programs to recognize their safest and most fuel efficient drivers. In addition, attendees will gain insight into the riskiest behaviors in a fleet, as well as the most common root causes of collisions throughout government fleets and how to correct them.

Rush Akin is the enterprise sales director for state and local government fleets at DriveCam. Prior to joining DriveCam, he was the national accounts sales manager at Fuel Master, product manager of residential and commercial operators for Wayne-Dalton Corp. and engineering program manager with Syn-Tech Systems. He earned his A.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University.
