Not All Safety Platforms Are Built Alike: See What Sets Lytx Apart

If you're evaluating video safety solutions or evaluating your existing program, you know how much effort it takes to not only find the right option, but more importantly, to find one that will continue to provide ROI over the years.

While many platforms offer similar hardware and basic analytics, Lytx® goes deeper, integrating positive driver recognition and driver respect into professional coaching workflows to help fleets build a safety culture that actually sticks. Here’s how Lytx’s latest innovations can transform both your safety outcomes and operational performance.

Recognizing What Matters: Real Behaviors, Real Results

Lytx’s new safety recognition features empower operations and safety teams to celebrate safe driving in real time, directly from video insights. Unlike gamification strategies that can create short-term engagement without sustained change, Lytx reinforces professional behaviors with purpose-driven feedback.

The Safe Driving report and widget within the Lytx Safety Recognition program empowers managers to easily identify and recognize drivers and groups of drivers that exhibit safer driving habits. The Safe Driving Trend dashboard widget and Safe Driving report include shortcuts that make it easy to recognize drivers who have had no coachable events in the most recent completed quarter. Pairing this data with recognition strategies helps incentivize drivers to perform better by communicating driver value and increasing retention rates through employee satisfaction.

On the Driver Safety dashboard, the Safe Driving Trend widget displays the percentage of drivers and groups of drivers that meet the safe driving criteria over the most recent five quarters.

Managers can also use the Safe Driving report and widget features to identify safe drivers and groups of drivers and recognize them through custom Recognition Certificates, customizable to the driver’s achievements. The feature auto-populates the driver’s name, display date, and a standardized recognition reason. Recognition Reasons can be further customized to mention achievements over multiple quarters, multiple groups, or minimal non-coachable behaviors.

Managers can easily deliver recognition to drivers by:

  • Printing certificates to share with drivers during face-to-face coaching and communication sessions
  • Emailing certificates directly to drivers
  • Allowing drivers to view their certificates anytime through the Lytx Driver App on their phones

Improvements in driver satisfaction, retention, and overall fleet productivity are a result of Lytx’s blend of Safety Recognition and customized coaching sessions that support driver skill development.

Sidney Brown, Chief Executive Officer for NFI Industries, shared feedback from one of his drivers about the Lytx Driver Safety program and DriveCam event recorders. “He said, ‘We’re tired of being blamed for things we never did. I love these event recorders because they show that we are really good drivers—and a lot of times we don’t get the credit for how good we are.’”

Why do all of these tools matter? Because when your drivers feel seen for what they’re doing right, they’re more likely to stay engaged, drive safely, and stick with your company for the long haul. Lytx’s Safety Recognition can lead to:

  • Improved morale and retention
  • Improved safe driving behaviors that can reduce collisions and claims
  • Creation of a culture founded on trust and accountability

Safety Culture That Scales

Positive recognition isn’t just a feel-good tactic—it’s a scalable strategy that aligns with KPIs in both safety and operations. With the Safe Driving Trend Dashboard, fleet and safety managers can monitor fleet safety performance at a glance. Managers can tailor metrics such as mileage thresholds and see what percentage of drivers have met or exceeded their goals by quarter.

“I love these features,” said Charles Rockwell, Safety Manager at JBS Carriers Inc. “They make it easy for me to see which of our drivers are qualified and performing well. Sure, pay is important for drivers. But communication, respect, and proper recognition are right up there, too. This aligns with our values and how we coach our drivers to maintain safe driving habits.”

Better Video Insights, Faster Coaching, and Smarter Operations.

By pairing positive recognition with enhanced video search capabilities, your team can quickly verify incidents, recognize positive or safe behavior, and coach with confidence. Lytx’s platform is built to reduce friction—giving operations managers instant access to key moments without digging through footage or wasting valuable hours.

The Lytx Driver Safety Program combines positive recognition with coaching options to meet every fleet’s unique needs. This combination can yield huge safety and operational wins.

  • Data and trends to prevent future incidents: Flogas, a supplier of liquid petroleum gas, used Lytx Driver Safety Program to protect its drivers and increase their vigilance
    • “We identified that if we could get knowledge of more of the near misses, we could find out what was happening before it led to a collision,” said Timothy Eaton, head of logistics and supply chain for Flogas. “So, we turned to Lytx video telematics for help in seeing what was going on, so we could manage this positively and proactively at the site level.”
  • Reduced insurance costs: The Doughnut Peddler, a company specializing in manufacturing and distributing fresh baked goods, brought on Lytx technology to aid in its expansion efforts. One major benefit? Lowering its insurance costs.
    • “The insurance company gave us a discount when we bought Lytx,” said William Cooper, National Director of Project Management and Compliance. “They sent a team onsite to look at our vehicles and ask us for demos. We showed them what the DriveCam does. They were impressed.”
  • Measurable behavior change: With the Lytx Driver Safety Program, Pierce Transit safety leaders were alerted to potentially unsafe driving events and were able to quickly access video clips anytime via an online portal and coach drivers to improve. Within the first year, this proactive approach helped Pierce Transit reduce the number of rear-end collisions by 92%, lower claims costs by 30%, and see significant improvements in driver performance.
    • “Within a month, we saw a 75% drop in the number of risky incidents,” said Pierce Transit Safety Manager Reginald Reese. “It was like night and day.”

Thinking About Switching Providers? Here’s the Bottom Line.

Competitors may offer similar tech—but they often miss the human side of fleet safety. Lytx understands that lasting change happens when drivers feel empowered, not micromanaged.

If you're looking to build a sustainable safety culture and reap the many cost saving benefits from such a culture, Lytx’s positive recognition and coaching platform gives you the tools—and the results—to do exactly that.
